Subject: A Request to incorporate the Syrian Independence flag into SAMS Logo
Dear SAMS board,
It has been several months since many organizations adopted the previous Independence Syrian flag. The people on the ground, the activists and even almost all Syrian conferences and meetings in US, have agreed to replace the regime flag with the Independence one. As Medical Doctors in US and as SAMS members, we see this change in the current SAMS logo a critical one. Many people still criticize SAMS for not taking a solid position on the side of the revolution. The fact that SAMS is a medical association does not justify backing up from such a position. If we, as Syrian Medical Doctors, decided to be with the revolution against the oppressive regime, then SAMS which represents us, should make its stand clear as well.
Changing the current logo by incorporating the Independence flag, would mean that SAMS really represents its members. We hope that the Board of Directors will take this matter seriously, and bring it to vote at the coming Assembly if needed.
