Dear Chairwoman Myrth York and Members of the Zoning Board of Review:
In the matter of the application by THAYER REALTY, LLC, OWNER AND SHARK SUSHI BAR & GRILL, INC. for a special use permit for the inclusion of entertainment within the existing restaurant at 275 Thayer Street, I oppose this application.
THAYER REALTY, LLC, OWNER AND SHARK SUSHI BAR & GRILL, INC., APPLICANT: 275 Thayer Street, Lot 29, located in a General Commercial District C-2 Zone. The applicant seeks a special use permit pursuant to Section 303-use code 58 and in accordance with Section 200, to include entertainment within the existing restaurant.
College Hill is an historic district that was voted a top 10 neighborhood in 2011 by the American Planning Association due to preservation efforts that have helped protect the character of the neighborhood. Introducing entertainment licenses into this historic residential neighborhood would run completely counter to all the benefits of the neighborhood that were identified by the planning association, listed below. College Hill needs to be viewed as a tourist destination and protected as a revenue-generating asset to the city whose monetary value for tourism greatly outweighs any potential new business revenue generated from issuing entertainment licenses in the neighborhood.
