Dear Senator,
I urge you to vote for AB 401 when it comes before you on the Senate floor.
The purpose of this bill is to remove offensive language from the California Education Code which seems to relate sexual orientation and pedophilia or child molesting.
Frankly, I find that language offensive. It seems to suggest that, at least in some circumstances, it is appropriate to associate sexual orientation And pedophilia.
Sexual orientation, and being gay or lesbian in particular, has nothing to do with pedophilia in any situation. But, the mere fact that those concepts are included together in the Education Code lends itself to continuing the stereotypical view that they are related.
Any language that associates sexual orientation and pedophilia and should be removed from our state government codes. AB 401 removes such language from California's Education Code. So, please vote for this bill
