The 1867 Sanctuary of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Ewing is an irreplaceable landmark that has served as a beautiful place of worship and a beacon to the entire community for more than 140 years. We call on the Church Session, as governing body of the 1st Presbyterian congregation, to delay plans for the church's demolition. Instead, we ask the church leadership to embrace the broad national, state and community support displayed during the recent successful fundraising campaign and engage the supportive congregation and their many new friends and advocates in an exploration of realistic solutions that will lead to preservation of the landmark sanctuary. Together, we believe, we can reach an inspired and sustainable result.
