As a consumer, I am writing to you regarding an issue of great importance to me, direct wine shipping. It is my understanding that your Committee is familiar with this issue, but past legislation has received an unfavorable vote. I respectfully request that ECM hear this year's bill, which has been collaboratively drafted with help and support of area retailers, the Comptroller's Office, and wineries both in- and out-of-state. Your committee will have many bills before it especially around energy re-regulation, and I encourage you to commit to bringing this particular issue up for a vote. Not only will legalizing wine shipping help Maryland consumers, but also it will bring positive revenue to the state at a time when it sorely needs it.
