Dear Chairman Wadnola,
Based on the wholesale inadequacy of the NY State DEC DSGEIS report of September 2009, I am extremely concerned about the potential negative impacts of gas drilling using hydrofracking.
Sullivan County recently adopted a resolution stating that hydrofracking "shall not be allowed on property owned by Sullivan County until potential and environmental impacts are identified and addressed." I urge you to follow Sullivan County's example and adopt a similar resolution for our county.
Like Sullivan County we face the same financial burdens to taxpayers for monitoring water quality, impact on local roads from increased truck traffic and serious threats to health and the environment.
The risks are clearly too great to proceed under the current circumstances.
