I am a taxicab passenger at LAX and I OPPOSE extending the taxicab management contract at LAX to Authorized Taxicab Supervision (ATS) with its history of misappropriating passengers' money. To do otherwise would send a message that the City of Los Angeles is rewarding corruption. Give the contract to a good company that is NOT CORRUPT.
I am aware that a 2007 City Controller audit found that ATS misappropriated money collected from passengers. For example, ATS paid cab company presidents and managers thousands of dollars in cash without any documentation, all money coming from the surcharge paid by the traveling public such as myself.
I urge you to protect the public trust by opposing the extension of the contract for taxi dispatch to ATS. A vote otherwise would send the message that the City of Los Angeles does not take seriously the need for integrity and honesty in its operations at LAX.
