Subject: Save Mission Science Workshop!
We, the community of the Mission District, wish to make clear our strong request to restore funding to Mission Science Workshop (MSW), by the Department of Children, Youth, and their Families. MSW provides 3000 youth from the surrounding public schools with meaningful experimental science learning.
Mission Science Workshop is more than a youth service within our community (Mission District). It has also supported science education for teachers from the surrounding 20 public schools for the past 18 years. This is the only place in the Mission District where youth can experience science (ei. use a microscope, examine tadpoles, build electronic circuits) and other activities that are not possible in the classroom. Please restore funding and urge DCYF to support Mission Science Workshop.
